Arrest of "Night Artists" in Brodnica

On the night of February 7 to 8, 2025, an interesting incident occurred in Brodnica, demonstrating that police responsibility does not end after duty hours. An officer from the District Police Headquarters, while off-duty, noticed two masked individuals spraying graffiti on the wall of a tenement building on Ogrodowa Street.

Police Intervention

The officer immediately notified the on-duty patrol, resulting in a joint action to apprehend the "night artists." It turned out that they were two teenagers: a 16-year-old from Płońsk County and a 17-year-old from Brodnica County. The youth were found carrying backpacks filled with various spray paints, drippers, and stencils.

Legal Consequences

The officers secured the materials and handed the teenagers over to their parents. Further investigation revealed that the boys had left traces of their "artistry" in other parts of the city as well. Due to the inability to remove the graffiti, the actions of the teenagers were classified as a crime under Article 288 of the Penal Code, which pertains to the destruction of someone else's property.

The 16-year-old from Płońsk County will face a family court, while the 17-year-old from Brodnica County may face a penalty of up to 5 years in prison.
