Commemoration of the Indomitable Soldiers in Brodnica

Celebration of the National Day of Remembrance for the Cursed Soldiers

On March 1st, we celebrate the National Day of Remembrance for the Cursed Soldiers. On this occasion, on February 28th, local government representatives, military personnel, and veterans paid tribute to the heroes of the independence underground at the monument of the Home Army on Sądowa Street in Brodnica.

Mariusz Wojdyło, a member of the Brodnica County Board, along with a delegation of county office employees, laid a wreath on behalf of the residents of the county.

History of the Remembrance Day

This holiday was established in 2011 to honor the heroes of the underground movement who resisted Soviet aggression and the communist regime in defense of Poland's independence. The date of March 1st commemorates the crime committed in 1951 by the Polish authorities against seven members of the independence IV Board of the "Freedom and Independence" Association in the Warsaw Mokotów prison:
