Inspection of E-Cigarette Sales in Brodnica

Police officers from the County Police Headquarters in Brodnica conducted inspections of e-cigarette sales points in the city. During unannounced visits, they checked, among other things, the permits for selling these products and the appropriate signage indicating the prohibition of sales to individuals under the age of 18. As a result of the inspections, several fines were issued for identified irregularities.

On Friday, February 28, a prevention specialist, supported by local officers, carried out numerous inspections. During the site visits, staff from the Brodnica sanitary and epidemiological station were also present. The officers uncovered irregularities, leading to fines for both the owner and customers of one of the sales points.

In recent years, disposable electronic cigarettes have gained popularity, especially among young people. Numerous scientific studies confirm the harmfulness of these products, including their potential impact on addiction, particularly among adolescents. The appeal of e-cigarettes, their pleasant scent, interesting flavors, and easy accessibility make them increasingly attractive to teenagers.

Police remind that according to current regulations, it is prohibited to sell tobacco products and e-cigarettes to individuals under 18 years old. The law also prohibits the sale of cigarettes in packages containing fewer than twenty pieces or loose without packaging, which means that traditional cigarettes cannot be sold individually.
