Summary of Water Companies' Activities in the Brodnica County

In the Brodnica County, a series of general meetings of the delegates of water companies is taking place. Meetings have already been held in the municipalities of Bobrowo and Brodnica. By the end of March, meetings will also take place in the municipalities of Osiek and Jabłonowo Pomorskie.

Water companies, whose statutes are approved by the starost, are non-public organizational forms that do not operate for profit. They bring together natural or legal persons on a voluntary basis and aim to meet the needs indicated by the provisions of the law regarding water management.

The water balance, in light of the long-standing deficit of precipitation, is a matter of utmost importance. The supply of water to agricultural areas directly affects the yield levels. From April 11 to June 10, 2024, the average value of the climatic water balance for the country was 93 mm. Agricultural drought thus occurred in 15 voivodeships, including Kujawsko-Pomorskie.

During the General Meeting of the Water Company in Bobrowo, which took place on February 21 this year, participants granted discharge to the Management Board for 2024, approved the budget, and set the contribution level for 2025. They also adopted a work plan, which included cleaning and deepening ditches in the following locations: Nieżywięć, Bobrowo, Zgniłobłoty, Chojno, Brudzawy, laying drainage in Nieżywięć, ongoing work, maintenance of equipment, and purchase of materials for work. As every year, the company will apply for grants from the Marshal and the Voivode.

The company received assistance from the Mayor of Bobrowo in handling administrative matters and an annual grant from the municipal budget.
