Cities, Municipalities and Counties for Drwęca

Drwęca is our common good. For over two decades, local governments united in the Association of Cities, Municipalities, and Counties of the Drwęca Basin have been working for its benefit.

On Wednesday, March 5, a General Assembly of the Association took place in Brodnica. Representatives of the municipalities of the Drwęca Basin granted discharge to the board, adopted the budget, and set action plans for 2025.

The meeting was opened by the association's president, the vice-starost of Brodnica, Arkadiusz Orłowski. After confirming a quorum, the delegates elected the presidium of the General Assembly with chairman Krzysztof Puwalski from the Nowe Miasto county.

The delegates approved the substantive and financial report of the Board's activities for 2024 and adopted resolutions regarding the granting of discharge. They also adopted the association's budget for 2025 and established the membership fee at 4,000 PLN (previously 3,000 PLN).

During the meeting, proposals for the 2025 work plan of the Board were discussed. There was talk of plans to implement the next stages of marking the Drwęca waterway, as well as continuing the grant program for the development of tourism infrastructure in the Drwęca Basin.

Recall that, according to the regulations, members of the Association of Cities, Municipalities, and Counties of the Drwęca Basin, as well as their partners, unions, and organizations, can apply for support related to the protection of the river and tourism development. The amount of funding cannot exceed half of the qualified costs and the sum of 20,000 PLN.

During the meeting, representatives of the association members also discussed current organizational matters.

The Association of Cities, Municipalities, and Counties of the Drwęca Basin has been operating since 2003 in the area of the Drwęca river basin and the catchment area of the Drwęca river. It has legal personality, and its headquarters is in the city of Brodnica. The association currently has 11 members: the Municipality of Brodnica City, the Municipality of Kurzętnik, the Municipality of Lubawa, the Municipality of Grodziczno, the Municipality of Brodnica, the Municipality of Brzozie, the Municipality of Zbiczno, the Municipal Town of Nowe Miasto, the Brodnica County, the Nowe Miasto County, and the City of Toruń.
