Man arrested for drunk driving after New Year's Eve party

In the night from December 31 to January 1, police in Brodnica received a report regarding a traffic accident. After 2:00 AM, on the route from Nowa Wieś to Płowęż, a car crashed into a pole. The report suggested that the driver might be under the influence of alcohol.

At the scene, officers found a Dacia Duster lying on its side next to a tree, with a 30-year-old resident of the Grudziądz district inside. The strong smell of alcohol was noticeable from the man. Tests revealed that he had over 3 promille of alcohol in his system.

Witnesses confirmed that he was indeed driving the vehicle. Due to injuries, the man was taken to the hospital.

As a result of the committed offense, the man will face court proceedings, with a potential sentence of up to 3 years in prison and a driving ban. Police also confiscated his driving license and secured the vehicle for future penalties.
