Safe New Year Celebration: Tips from Kujawsko-Pomorskie Police

The New Year is approaching, and Kujawsko-Pomorskie police remind everyone to be cautious during New Year celebrations, especially when using fireworks.

Safety First

Fireworks are a traditional part of New Year's celebrations; however, improper use can endanger health and life. Here are several rules to help ensure safety:

  • Do not sell fireworks to minors — this is a crime punishable by fines or even imprisonment for up to 2 years.
  • Report vendors selling firecrackers to children.
  • Do not allow children to use fireworks without adult supervision.
  • Comply with local regulations regarding the use of fireworks.
  • Buy only from trusted sellers and follow the instructions on the packaging.

What to Check Before Purchase?

Before buying pyrotechnic materials, make sure that:

  • The casing has no damage (cracks, dents).
  • All components are well connected.
  • The manufacturer's name and contact details are on the packaging.
  • The fireworks are properly equipped for safe use.
  • A user manual in Polish is included.

When Using Fireworks

Remember the following rules:

  • Use fireworks only on December 31 and January 1 and always in accordance with their intended use.
  • Only light fireworks under adult supervision.
  • Maintain a safe distance as instructed.
  • Do not ignite fireworks while under the influence of alcohol.
  • If a firework fails to explode, do not approach the device.
  • Take care of animals that may be scared by the noise.
  • In case of an accident, immediately call emergency services.

By following these rules, you will ensure a safe and joyful welcome to the New Year 2025!
