Exhibition "JAN MARCIN SZANCER – AMBASSADOR OF IMAGINATION"

The Mayor of Brodnica, Jarosław Radacz, the Director of the Museum in Brodnica, Bartosz Markuszewski, along with Henryk Gościański and Karol Prętnicki from the G&P Publishing House, invite you to the opening of an exhibition dedicated to Jan Marcin Szancer – one of the most outstanding Polish illustrators. The event will take place on March 28, 2025, at 18:30 in the Brama Gallery in Brodnica.

Szancer illustrated nearly 300 books, creating unforgettable images of Mr. Kleks, the Snow Queen, Marysia the Orphan, and the Proud Little Deer. His characteristic style – slender silhouettes, expressive faces, and a fairy-tale atmosphere – continues to delight new generations of readers. He collaborated with Jan Brzechwa, Julian Tuwim, Henryk Sienkiewicz, and Adam Mickiewicz.

In addition to illustration, he was involved in theater and film, was a painter, set designer, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, and editor of "Świerszczyk" and "Przygody." His artistic achievements elevated Polish book illustration to a global level.

The exhibition is a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of childhood, recall favorite books, and introduce Szancer's work to the youngest!
