Educational Project – "To be like Ignacy – The Power of Water"

The Scientific Circle "Drwęca" from Primary School No. 2 in Brodnica enthusiastically participated in the nationwide educational project "To be like Ignacy – The Power of Water". For several months, students delved into the secrets of water, completing various stages of the project. Each month brought new challenges and discoveries – from nature, through physics and technology, to ecology and chemistry of water. Each of these topics required creativity, collaboration, and a passion for exploring the world from the young scientists.

  •  Meetings with experts

The invited experts provided invaluable support in the project's implementation. Students had the opportunity to meet with an ornithologist, employees of a sewage treatment plant, a water device enthusiast, and a chemist. Thanks to these inspiring guests, we gained a wealth of interesting information and looked at water from a completely new perspective.

  • Experiments and discoveries

As part of the project, students conducted numerous experiments and participated in field classes along the Drwęca River, at a lake, and at a sewage treatment plant. They documented their activities in the form of posters, newsletters, reports on the school website and Facebook, as well as through workshops and demonstrations for younger peers from grades 1-3.

  • March – time for an original mini-project!

In March, students faced a unique challenge – “The Art of Water.” Painting using the Ebru technique allowed them to create extraordinary images on water, which they later presented at an exhibition. They also experimented with the sounds of water, recording splashes, rustling plants, and the calls of cranes.

  • The culmination of the project – a trip and a film

The culmination of the year-long work was a trip to the Sturgeon Breeding Center in Grzmięcy. There, students learned the secrets of breeding this unique species and participated in field recordings. The result of these activities was a 3-minute film in which water itself played the leading role!

We thank everyone who supported the Scientific Circle in this extraordinary adventure!
