Beekeepers' Problems in Brodnica County Discussed at Committee Meeting

Beekeeping is becoming increasingly unprofitable. These difficulties and other important issues concerning beekeepers were discussed during a meeting of the Committee on Rural Development and Environmental Protection of the Brodnica County Council. The meeting took place on March 31 with the participation of committee members and invited guests, including representatives of the Regional Beekeepers' Association and the Górzno Beekeepers' Association.

Beekeepers complain about low state subsidies compared to the costs of maintaining apiaries. The import of so-called "technical honey" from the East, which floods the market and prevents Polish producers from competing on price, is also a problem. Many beekeepers are considering closing down or reducing their apiaries.

However, it was emphasized that Polish honey from small apiaries is a natural product with exceptional health benefits, which is worth promoting. The committee listened to the beekeepers' comments and plans to develop a position on the situation of beekeeping in the Brodnica County.

In addition, on April 5, the problems of the beekeeping economy will be discussed in Toruń during the XXXIII Beekeepers' Forum combined with the celebration of the XXXXI Voivodeship Beekeepers' Day. The event will take place at the "Park" Exhibition Center at Szosa Bydgoska 3a and will gather scientists, equipment manufacturers and beekeepers from all over Poland. The aim of the forum is to exchange experiences and learn about the latest research and legal regulations.
