World Autism Awareness Day Celebrated in Brodnica

The Special School Complex in Brodnica held a three-day celebration of World Autism Awareness Day from March 31st to April 2nd, 2025. The initiative included a series of activities aimed at raising awareness about autism and integrating people with autism into the school community.

Celebration Program

During the celebration, the following were organized:

  • Awareness-raising talks about the problem of autism.
  • Thematic assembly.
  • Art classes.
  • Integration games and activities.
  • Blue Games - a sports and recreational event promoting relationship building and integration.

Students participated in screenings of films and multimedia presentations devoted to the subject of autism. They also had the opportunity to experience how people with autism perceive the world through special exercises and games. Posters and blue symbols were created to decorate the school.

Blue Games

The culmination of the celebration was the Blue Games, which aim to integrate children with autism with their peers through sports and recreation. The event promotes openness, tolerance, respect, and friendship. The originator of the Blue Games is Dr. Anna Budzińska from the Foundation of the Institute for Supporting Child Development in Gdańsk.

This year's event involved over 500,000 people from around the world, and ambassadors included Natalia Partyka and Hubert Hurkacz. Honorary patronage was provided by the President of the City of Gdańsk, the Children's Rights Ombudsman, and the Polish Olympic Committee.

The organizers of the celebrations at the ZSS in Brodnica were Dominika Abram and Jerzy Ochlak.
