Report from the XXIII Municipal Spelling Competition in Brodnica Commune

On April 15, 2025, the XXIII Municipal Spelling Competition “For the Pen of the Mayor of Brodnica Commune” took place at the school in Gortatowo. The competition was attended by second and third grade students from schools in the Brodnica Commune, specifically from Cielęta, Gortatowo, Gorczenica and Szabda. Each school nominated three representatives from each grade, resulting in a total of 24 participants.

Competition Committee

The committee included: Joanna Bonawenturska – Director of the Municipal Public Library in Szczuka, Mariola Kolasińska, an employee of the Municipal Public Library in Szczuka from the Branch in Szabda. The proper course of the competition was supervised by the Deputy Director of the School Krystyna Smętek and teachers: Aleksandra Przeczewska and Barbara Zagórska.

Competition Results

Second Grade Category:

• 1st place: Stanisław Martewicz – Primary School in Szabda
• 2nd place: Mikołaj Barszczyk – Primary School in Gortatowo with its seat in Szczuka
• 3rd place: Maria Lewińska – Primary School in Szabda

Third Grade Category:

• 1st place: Tymon Rawski – Primary School in Szabda
• 2nd place: Nadia Kondratowicz – Primary School in Szabda
• 3rd place: Adam Pesta – Primary School in Gortatowo with its seat in Szczuka

Prizes to the winners, on behalf of the Mayor of Brodnica Commune, were presented by the Director of the Primary School in Gortatowo with its seat in Szczuka - Zenon Matuszewski. All participants received commemorative diplomas and gifts. An additional nice touch was a sweet treat. The founder of the awards was the Mayor of Brodnica Commune - Adam Zalewski.
