Safety Guidelines for Winter Holidays 2025

Winter holidays in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship start on January 17, 2025, and will last until February 2. During this period, traffic police will ensure the safety of all travelers.

Road Safety

Due to the expected increase in road traffic, the police will focus particularly on inspections of buses and drivers transporting children for winter holidays. The main aspects they will pay attention to include:

  • the technical condition of vehicles, including lighting and tire condition,
  • the sobriety of drivers,
  • proper loading of luggage and winter equipment,
  • the use of seat belts by drivers and passengers,
  • transporting children in safety seats,
  • the proper movement of pedestrians on the road and the possession of reflective elements.

Preparing for the Journey

Before embarking on a trip, it is essential to remember several guidelines to ensure a safe arrival at the holiday destination:

  • check the technical condition of the vehicle (functioning lights, tire pressure, brake system efficiency),
  • check the vehicle's equipment (triangle, fire extinguisher),
  • adjust driving speed to weather and road conditions,
  • use seat belts while driving,
  • avoid driving under the influence of alcohol,
  • not to set off on a journey when fatigued.

Bus Inspections

The safety of children and youth is a priority for the Police. Inspections of buses transporting them for holidays are a crucial part of this task. The Traffic Bureau of the Chief Police Headquarters has prepared a list of locations where bus and driver inspections take place, which can assist in organizing trips.

During inspections, the technical condition of the bus, its equipment, the driver's qualifications, and sobriety are checked. It is advisable to inform the police about the planned trip in advance to avoid long waits for the patrol's arrival.
