Tragic Scooter Accident Involving a 12-Year-Old in Brzozie

Last Friday, April 25th, around 5:20 PM, a serious accident occurred in Brzozie. A 12-year-old boy, riding an electric scooter, fell on a local road and was airlifted by helicopter to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The police, under the supervision of the prosecutor, are investigating the circumstances of the incident, ruling out the involvement of other vehicles. We appeal to parents and guardians to be more vigilant and ensure the safety of children, especially in the context of the upcoming First Communion ceremonies, where electric scooters are often given as gifts.

Regulations regarding electric scooters:

  • Use of cycle paths or cycle lanes (up to 20 km/h).
  • Road where vehicle traffic is up to 30 km/h if there is no cycle path.
  • Sidewalk (as a last resort): speed close to that of a pedestrian, caution, yielding priority.
  • Riding alone (no riding with two people).

Who can ride a scooter?

Persons aged 10-18: bicycle card or driving license AM, A1, B1, T. After the age of 18: no requirements. Children under 10: no riding on public roads, only in residential areas under adult supervision.

Let's remember about safety and compliance with the regulations!
