40th Anniversary Celebration of Brodnica Landscape Park

40 Years of Brodnica Landscape Park!

On June 12th and 13th of this year, a solemn conference took place in the picturesque Czystebłota, specifically at the Hotel Pory Roku, gathering a large group of guests. The occasion was the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Brodnica Landscape Park.

Participants and Course of the Conference

Among the invited guests were representatives of the scientific community, local government officials, and individuals passionately dedicated to nature conservation. Together, they celebrated four decades of the park's activities for environmental protection and ecological education. Deputy Starost Arkadiusz Orłowski conveyed congratulations and best wishes from the county authorities to the director and staff of BPK.

The jubilee was also attended by, among others, the Deputy Marshal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, Aneta Jędrzejewska, and the first director of the park, Dr. Marian Tomoń, who during the conference inaugurating the celebrations recalled the 40-year history of BPK. During substantive speeches, issues concerning the importance of biodiversity for the rational management of the park were discussed. The results of research on nocturnal butterflies, palynology, and the application of modern environmental monitoring methods, including the use of drones to study the water quality of the lakes in the Brodnica Landscape Park, were also presented.

Among the scientists present were representatives of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, including Dr. habil. Michał Jankowski, Dr. habil. Agnieszka Noryśkiewicz, Dr. Adam Solarczyk, and Dr. Marcin Nowak.

Field Attractions and Kayak Trip

The program also included educational field activities – participants had the opportunity to take part in a walk along the "Bobrowiska Trail", which leads through the picturesque surroundings of the Skarlanka River and Kochanka Lake. The second day of the conference, without the participation of county officials, was devoted to recreation. A kayak trip on the Drwęca River was organized, which became a form of active relaxation and an opportunity for close contact with the nature of the Brodnica Landscape Park.

Deputy Starost Arkadiusz Orłowski, on behalf of the county authorities, emphasized the important role of the local government in activities for nature conservation and the development of ecological education in the region.
