Brodnica Commemorates the 81st Anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising

Residents of Brodnica and the Brodnica district commemorated the 81st anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, an armed rebellion against the German occupiers. The ceremonies took place on August 1, 2025, at 5:00 PM in front of the Home Army monument on Sądowa Street.

The event was attended by representatives of the county and city authorities, veterans, Member of Parliament Zbigniew Sosnowski, delegations from the army, police, fire brigade, institutions, organizations, and residents of Brodnica. Tribute was paid to the insurgents by laying wreaths at the Home Army monument.

The Warsaw Uprising, which broke out on August 1, 1944, at "W" hour, has forever been etched in Polish history as a symbol of the struggle for freedom and independence. 63 days of heroic resistance against the overwhelming forces of the enemy remains an inspiration for future generations.

On the anniversary of the outbreak of the uprising, at 5:00 PM, sirens wailed throughout Poland, and cities stopped to pay tribute to the heroes. Brodnica joined this symbolic gesture, demonstrating remembrance of those who fought for a free Poland.
