Joint Sky Observations in Brodnica and Jabłonowo

Residents of the Brodnica district had the opportunity to admire the Perseid meteor shower during two astronomical picnics organized as part of the "Observing the Perseids" event. The events took place in Brodnica and Jabłonowo Pomorskie.

Brodnica Under the Stars

The first picnic took place on August 11th at the Kopernik Astrobaza near the I LO in Brodnica. The program included observations of the Sun through a telescope, lectures on the Perseids, and observations of the Moon and other objects. The Brodnica Starosta, Paweł Szramka, emphasized the importance of popularizing science and integrating the community.

Jabłonowo Pomorskie: Perseid Observations

The second picnic took place on August 13th at the Zespół Szkół in Jabłonowo Pomorskie. Initially, clouds prevented observations of the Sun, but the time was filled with lectures and a tour of the observatory. The Mayor of Jabłonowo Pomorskie, Marzanna Fettke, expressed her joy at the large participation of residents. The Director of Zespół Szkół, Barbara Bober, invited everyone to the "Intergenerational Meetings with the Stars" every Wednesday from 8:00 PM to 10:15 PM.

Around 9:00 PM, participants were able to admire the night sky, observing Albireo, the globular cluster M13, the Andromeda Galaxy M31, the Ring Nebula M57, the Moon, and Saturn.

The organizers - the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Center for Education and Innovation, along with local governments and schools, and the coordinators of the Kopernik Astrobazes: Agnieszka Ziółkowska, Piotr Biegajski and Marcin Motofa invite you to further observations.

The Kopernik Astrobaza network consists of 13 observatories in the region, operating for over 15 years. The voivodeship self-government has allocated PLN 1.5 million for their maintenance.
