Solemn Commemoration of the 105th Anniversary of the Battle of Brodnica

Residents of Brodnica and the Brodnica County solemnly commemorated the 105th anniversary of the Battle of Brodnica, which took place in 1920 during the Polish-Bolshevik War.

Mass and Remembrance Appeal

The celebrations began with a field mass at the military cemetery in Lasek Miejski. Then, a roll call of remembrance was read, and delegations of authorities, organizations, and residents laid wreaths, paying tribute to the heroes.

Patriotic Picnic

Earlier, a patriotic picnic with numerous attractions for residents took place in the park in front of the starosty (county administration building). The program included exhibitions, displays of military, fire and police equipment, artistic performances, and performances by the Virtual Theater of History "Sparks of Independence."

Words of Remembrance

The Starosta of Brodnica, Paweł Szramka, emphasized the importance of remembering the heroism of ancestors and warned against the horrors of war, appealing for unity, solidarity, and respect.

Participants in the ceremony

The celebrations were attended by representatives of the authorities of the county and city of Brodnica, parliamentarians, former starostas, local government officials, clergy, representatives of the military, veterans, school youth, and residents of the city and county.

Additional Attractions

During the picnic, you could see displays of military, fire and police equipment, taste pea soup and specialties of the Rural Housewives' Associations. Bouncy castles were prepared for the youngest, and artistic performances for the older ones.
