Świedziebnia: Grand County-Commune Harvest Festival 2025

Harvest Festival in Świedziebnia

Despite the rainy weather, on September 6, 2025, Świedziebnia gathered crowds for the County-Commune Harvest Festival. The park in this town became the heart of Brodnica County, hosting residents, farmers and invited guests, wanting to thank together for this year's harvest.

Solemn Holy Mass and Welcome of Guests

The Harvest Festival began with a Field Holy Mass, celebrated by the parish priest Fr. Andrzej Zych and Fr. Jerzy Wielechowski. After the service, the Brodnica Starosta Paweł Szramka and the Świedziebnia Mayor Kamil Durszlewicz warmly welcomed all those gathered, emphasizing the important role of farmers in the social and cultural life of the region.

Culmination Point: Sharing Bread

The Harvest Festival elders, Kornelia Wojtal-Zielińska and Karol Zieliński, presented a loaf of bread to representatives of the authorities. Then, this bread was shared among the Harvest Festival participants, symbolizing unity and prosperity.

Decorations and Awards for Distinguished Farmers

During the ceremony, the "Deserving for Agriculture" decorations and awards of the Brodnica Starosta for exemplary running of farms were presented. The Mayor of the Świedziebnia Commune also honored beekeepers, Anna and Mirosław Manelscy, for their contribution to environmental protection and the development of beekeeping.

Harvest Wreath Competition

Traditionally, during the Harvest Festival, prizes were awarded for the most beautiful wreaths and harvest decorations. The competition committee assessed 24 wreaths and 15 decorations, awarding cash prizes for first, second and third place. In addition, the Brodnica County councilors funded a special prize for the KGW in Sumin.

Festival Attractions and Music at the End

Numerous attractions awaited the participants, including National Reading, stands of Rural Women's Circles, presentations of schools and institutions, as well as a recreation and play area for children. In the evening, despite the rain, the audience enjoyed the music of Blues Station and Mr Zoob bands.
