Car Thieves Arrested After Chase

Brodnica police officers arrested three men suspected of car theft. Residents of the Grudziądz district have been arrested and face up to 10 years in prison.

Details of the Arrest

On Thursday (September 4), in Jabłonowo Pomorskie, police officers from Brodnica, patrolling in a marked police car, tried to stop the driver of a passenger Volkswagen with three people inside. These men were suspected of stealing a vehicle in Brodnica.

The driver ignored the signals to stop and started to flee. The police started chasing the vehicle whose passengers were suspected of stealing a VW van a few days earlier in one of the estates in Brodnica.

End of the Chase and Arrest

After several dozen kilometers of the chase, in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Brodnica police officers arrested the young men. The men, aged 19 to 27, were taken to the District Police Headquarters in Brodnica and placed in custody, where they awaited charges.

Charges and Punishment

After collecting evidence, the men were charged with vehicle theft with burglary, which carries a penalty of 1 to 10 years imprisonment. At the request of the prosecutor, the court decided to temporarily arrest all detainees.

Vehicle Recovery

The stolen VW Transporter was found in the Grudziądz area and returned to its rightful owner.
